This was written in a very boring Trig Class in 1978.

Got to Eat to Grow

In the season of our discontent,
We found the time we both spent wasted --
as if we merely tasted and spit it out before we swallowed.

Tomorrow I have found depends so much on Past
     (where we have been).
Not remembering, not reflecting can do us harm.
How could we say we've ever grown?

The only truth I have found lies in
the past that I have swallowed.
It nourishes my spirit when I feel hollow.

So, my friend, despair not,
Just eat your breakfast while it's hot!

I think that in a 'very boring Trig Class' you found a gem of wisdom~

if revenge is a dish best served cold, regret is apparently better warm...loved the poem...both in form and content (and aren't ALL trig classes boring?)

(giggles) Oh Jo, I have always found trigonometry to have ABSOLUTELY ZERO application to the typical child's life, sweet friend, that seriously shouldn't belong in organized education and should be there for those who choose to take it! (big angel hugs) At least you must have had great breakfasts before the class, hehehe, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jo, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

As I had an appetite for your poetry, I found this placed on the shelf!   Much enjoyed a second round of nutrients.

Oh definitely, better to eat it fresh

You ever try defrosting an old memory
that’s been sitting in the freeze for
about nine years...

Even if you can tell what it is,
and it doesn’t make you ill,
it still just isn’t going to quite
cut the mustard...

Trig!!! Yuk ... no wonder you were daydreaming and writing great poetry.

I'm glad you stuck with writing for us all to enjoy.

Hugs, Marti
