Our eyes meet across the crowded room
and everyone there fades away.
We smile quietly, lovingly,
on this, our wedding day.

Our love was unexpected,
But we know God played a part
In bringing us together
To share one life, one heart.

We have one very simple goal,
To cherish our hopes and dreams
To show those whose lives we touch
Our love is as strong as it seems.

Today we’ve pledged to bear
each other’s joys and strife.
Fervent in the belief that
we were destined to be man and wife.

These dear friends of mine got married on February 14, 1998. This is the poem I wrote for them. He was married when they met, in a marriage long dead. She worked for him. There was a lot of gossip about them at the time, but through it all, I saw the love shine in their eyes. It was meant to be....

How romantic a story Sharon...
And such a beautiful piece for you to have written for them.
I'm sure they will cherish this poem forever,
just as they cherish one another.
Hugs~

~ Is that love I see in your eyes...
or merely a reflection of mine? ~

Oh I love happy endings, especially when gossip is in the story.  Now, can I tell you a not so happy valentine wedding vow story? "No, please spare us," says the deVine one! Well ... I got married against my friends and family's advice to someone by a Reverend Valentine, on Valentine's Day, and when it came to say the vows the power went out, no lie!  You would think I should have run at that sign then, but I didn't.  The power came back on, the Rev. backed up into this fan running behind him and caught his robe in it, which proceeded to get twisted, and rip partially off, did I run, no!  Several years later I couldn't run fast enough.  So the moral of this story is you say?  Well, "valentine wedding vows" does not a happy marriage make.
I am sure glad these two beat the odds.  Maybe I already tell you this story?
