SWING TIME
(A Candy Heart Poem)
By: Noah Eaton
2/13/03

Hey baby, the way you look tonight
Seems to get my feet tapping to the beat
On this sapphire balustrade we'll dance in the moonlight
Lindy-hoppin' with the jitterbugs in this East Coast Swing

12 bar blues, darling, you give me the St. Louis flu
Shim Shammin' and walkin' that walk with Tacky Anne
Baby, I think I'm madly in love with you
It's not in the cards, it is all there in your hands

They say "to know how to dance,
is to know how to control yourself!"
I felt those Bojangles of Harlem at first glance
How your silver sandals boogie-woogie like church bells

I've got you under my skin
And your heart beats with mine in syncopation
God knows swinging ain't no original sin
Wait till I add in the Latin twist

You pick me up, you dust me off
As far as I am concerned, with you it's always swing time
You're my winners dance, my beach bop lollipop
Turn and shuffle with me to the daylight...

"You'll find something that's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20

This brings back great memories for me as well as the heart that sings with that swing. Thanks for the read.

Your poem made me smile. It had a lyrical, flirtateous aire to it and it was simply divine.
