in the shadows

You always looked good
with sunglasses,
little Summer clothes,
a convertible,
and any random older man with money;
so together,
so in charge,
you had the world in your hands.

The blues can live
in an old man's heart for endless seasons
once they start to take hold of thoughts,
and feelings,
shaping dreams
like faces dancing on ceiling shadows
in candle light.

I wonder at times
at night
if you ever reached the coast
on your journey to pack your life
with all the most delightful bits
of chance's levanter debris,
as if you could make awareness tangible,
and tuck it tight into your pockets
where no one else could see
you needed pride for your accomplishments.

Do you still burn incense to Marx
while pouring cash into your wounds,
and look as beautiful
standing naked in moonlight,
on the temperate edge of some hot spring,
staring wistfully at water strong enough to boil you alive?

This morning,
feeling misty,
I hope somewhere you did survive,
and that life let your swift balloon
finally come to rest on soft and fertile fields,
and that you may have known the peace of growing flowers.

Healing a feeling....a good way to start the day.  Hugs!
