I tried to hold on to you, January;
your vibrant sky and cold dreamless nights,

but you slipped by as you do each year
and left me with February.

My hands were slipping hold,
was it only yesterday,
as I dress for the blast?
Yes, I’m feeling old.

So many years and tears
are in this quiet sky.
But there is no getting around the fact
that the peach tree is gone,
the sweet fruit mulched
until the dirt
is the color of mourning.

It doesn’t matter
how many nights I saw her
holding onto my skirt
in a dream where children live.

I could still do nothing to save her.

(wipes tears) Know that though there may have been nothing you could do to save her that she will always see you as her hero and she is blessing that tree with the sweetest nectarine ever, God less You, I send extra big angel friendship and comfort hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

There is the touch of soul
the offer of emotion shared
but there are no words...

You are much loved as a poet here, some for the thoughts you share, mostly for the person you are.

Thank you.

Grief always alters us, sometimes defines us... the tears from your pen paint love.

Martie - your poetry reveals things we just don't get to see - how wonderfully poignant and how difficult Februaries must be - your light shines mightily though - Paul

Probably, you have many around you
To hold on to, when January slips,
And you fall into the abyss of February.
I offer you this strangers arms,
When others are tired and cannot break
Recurring falls...anytime, day or night
Open this note;
Though seeming mute the parenthesis signs
Might say warming things to your heart,
And when cold and lonely, sadness calls,
You will be safely surrounded by my warm arms

Martie, sometimes it's very, very hard to respond to a poem of yours. No need to quote lines or talk about how deep that peach tree's roots still run in the soil of you. You know without my saying, so I won't.

Dear Martie,

It is so very hard to reply, to something as sad as this,
For they’ve yet to make the words, that could even begin to express
how sorry one can feel, when such a lovely and innocent child,
is taken away from her loving parents.

Your poem is so much more, then such sad and beautiful words.
They are words that can only come from a heart, that knows a pain like no other.
A pain that no one would ever even dare to try to imagine.
A pain so unfair, no one should ever be able to understand.

One thing that is very easy to see, is what a wonderful mother you are.
And how much you truly loved and cared for your dear and blessed
little Michelle... then, and now, and always and forever.

The tender feelings of compassion, and genuine sorrow, from seeing
her lovely little picture, and the other one, with you holding her... and to
hear her sing that sweet lullaby on that beautiful memorial website you
made her, are ones, that I don’t think I could ever forget. Nor would I ever want to...

My deepest blessings go out to you Martie. As do my thoughts and prayers.
I hope that the warm comfort of family, and friends can keep you, during these
sad days ahead.

Please take care.
You and yours are in my thoughts.

Your Friend,
Richy

Lots of love and gentle hugs to you dear Martie.

Not going to say you know that I know,
because I can't possibly,

But my heart still breaks for you, come February.
