East of the moon, west of the sun.

[This'll be the first poem I've posted here in Pip for months upon months. How excited! ]

Rain streams down,
Across a broken mirror
Rivers form
Between the shards
Your reflection is broken,
Like your spirit,
When viewed in shattered glass

The shards are sharp,
Test the edge
Across your skin
The streams of rain
Are tainted red
Teardrops and raindrops
Who can tell the difference,
As they fall?
Not the shattered glass,
That portrays it all
In broken images

It's a long way down,
When hope is gone
Stand on the edge
And watch it crumble,
As the rain wears it away
If you wait long enough,
You'll fall, too
But waiting takes too long-
You'd rather jump

Seconds turn to minutes,
And minutes turn to days
Dawn 'till dusk,
Dusk 'till dawn,
It's a long way down,
When hope is gone
The edges are sharp
Hold the shards
And view your choices,
In shattered glass

But realize-
That broken images
Are only parts
And behind a broken spirit,
Lies a broken heart
Shards can be collected,
Red rivers washed away
Hearts can be healed,
With time,
And love
The clouds will part,
And after rain comes sun,
Just wait

Take my hand,
You don't have to jump
The clouds are parting
Feel the warmth of the sun
The shards are sharp-
So let them go
Look up, and see,
The rain has passed
Did you see this,
In shattered glass?

[By the way, Sunshine, if you read this, I tried to email you- hopefully I did it right. Yes, I could manage to screw even that up!]

It's not only cowardly to run...

...it's futile.

The poem was like a winding road. It left me anxious to see where it was going. Well worth the read.

Hello Amara

The images were so very vivid throughout your words which were so well written.
