An Easier Way

Catching up
on who’s now gone
isn’t always easy…

I know someone whose name
sounds just like his…
spelled a little differently,
but who cares…

this guy is that guy, too…
kind, and gentle, and other-worldly…

So, I shall miss him,
that gentlest man of TV hosts,
who engaged his guests
as if in his own home,
and told of anecdotes which endeared him
to those who would be
storytellers…

he even had his own inner,
quite severe, critique button…
and what didn’t go…
didn’t go.

Or he would, if it did.

And it did, once, and he did.

He walked off, aghast, ashamed,
at a dual meaning,
his understanding not being
another’s understanding,
and he would not allow
his name to be aligned
with any misunderstanding of
such a nature.

And so be it.

His magic in life was that he thought
he was not magical at all.
An ordinary man, who wove an extraordinary life
in a medium that still had no precedent,
and we will most likely always
see him only as he saw the world,
in black and white,
[perhaps with some gray in-between]
but we shall always know him as
a gentle man’s gentleman…

He made everyone seem…more.

His life…was a life…
worthy.

There are so many beautful lines in there...despite the fact that I have no idea who the 'gentle man's gentleman' is, I like it simply for the magic you weave into it. Now I remember why you were one of my favourite authors, before I up and dissapeared. *sighs*

"And we will most always likely..." (Should always and likely be switched around?)

Beautiful- especially the variations of stanza lengths and one-liners. You're very good at getting your thoughts and feelings across.

Light keep you always,

Huh?

I'm thinking, as I read this, of Mistletoe Angel's post in "feelings", about blue page poets who disappear.

Anyhow, I could be all wrong here, I am still rather new.

It was a lovely write, Sunshine.  You have a remarkable way with words.

McLean, this was simply a tribute to a man who has left this earth...but for those who remember, he also left a legacy.

Sometimes, I think that legacy is well placed in our own host's personage, but that is my very own personal opinion.

Grover, Sir, thank you for your read.  I do so appreciate your time.
