Dijon Vu

I can still remember going on
this one strange trip
I don’t quite remember if we
went by car or ship

Either, I was dreaming or
I could have been quite bent
These places seemed familiar
well, now this is how it went

I thought I’d get a bite to eat,
and hailed down a cab
The cabbie union was on strike,
so this guy was a scab

I said lets hit Wells Fargo,
and he went to North Dakota?
I said let’s get a tall one
and he picked up Abe Vigoda

I said hey look, now there’s a Butte,
and now we’re in Montana
I said that it was time to split,
he cut up a banana

I said lets get a wiener
and we ended up in Frankfurt
We met a dominatrix and of
course she said her spank hurt (!)

I said take me to paradise,
we went and played some craps
I said let’s get some fish and chips,
we met a couple chaps

I said, delicatessen, and we
wound up in New Delhi
I ordered up the lamb shanks
but the curry sauce was smelly

The cabbie put the blame on me
I said, your in denial
Now we’re in a river that’s
at least four thousand miles

He started getting short with me
and so I said, Yo Mama!
Now I’m eating sushi at the
top of Fujiyama

I told him we were scared
so he took us to the Euphrates
Abe said he was lonely
so we tried to find “the ladies”

We drove right by “The Jefferson’s”
and picked up George and Weezy
They wanted to go swimming
so we went to the Zambezi

Then we wanted coffee
so he took us east of Java
He said we should be careful
about all the molten lava

We thought we’d get some sunshine
so we went to the Bahamas
Then we saw King Tut
the boy king buried in pajamas

Someone wanted rum
so we went over to Jamaica
This dude, all in his dreadlocks said,
Hey Yah Mahn I must wake ya

Then we went by Chile to see
Tierra del Fuego
The bus was getting small
so we jumped in a Winnebago

Then we did a little jaunt right
over to Sri Lanka
Someone wanted decaf
so we had to buy some Sanka

By now we thought we’d go ahead
and go over to Cuba
We thought we’d start a marching band
and so we bought a tuba

Of course we couldn’t leave until
we visited Sumatra
And since we did it our way
we put on some old Sinatra

We went over to Baghdad
so that we could find Osama
We saw him in a dirthole
and we yelled down, Hey Yo Mama!

I feel like I have been to all these
places in the past
Too bad the trip is over now
I wanted it to last

I’ll tell you folks some other time
about the other places
There was lots of other trips
with many other faces

I can’t wait to tell you guys
about the time with Custer
Dijon Vu, where all your mem’ries,
don’t quite cut the mustard

*chuckling* This one was very cute and whimsical, with good usage of semantics and punnery. A very enjoyable read over coffee.

Dang, Richy...

Since it was a scab, I certainly hope you bargained for a trip total instead of mileage!

Very funny, creative, and demented (which, in this case, is very, very good!)

(giggles rolling on floor) Hehehe, hey, if you see Rand McNally at the Waffle House with John Deere, you have him drop a line my way, to the U.S 66 Prophet! (giggles) Hehehe, I think you just inspired me here, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Richy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

a delightful ditty, although "ditty" seems too short a word

When I  read the title, I thought maybe I was going to learn about a mustard you'd seen before

I was pleased to see that mustard finally arrived on the scene. LOL

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Sounds like a far-out trip heh, a most enjoyable read Richy.

Glad to see you among these blue pages again

Maree.

Gee Maree, you didn't have to come
all the way, up over from down under,
just to say hello...

But I'm sure glad you did!

You take good care, okay?

How funny Toe! That’s exactly what comes to my mind when I read your stuff

The strange individual part that is...

Hey seriously, I’m glad you're here, I can use all the comic relief I can get

Maybe you can point some out to me next time you see some
