The Quest The moment we are born we start a never ending quest A journey of discovery The quintessential test We search our new surroundings for the sustenance we need Our fate fully dependent now on others to succeed And as we learn to flourish at our loved ones gentle hand They help to lift us to our feet so we can make a stand Our confidence then nurtured, to help make us more adept We’re taught the promise that is gained, by taking that first step Our passages are plotted out, to help us pave the way In hopes that we can steer a course that leads us not astray And with our confidence secured to tackle the unknown We have the light within, when darkness finds us all alone Instilled now with a courage for the battles to be fought We stand a fighting chance by using wisdom we were taught And as we try to right the wrongs and live a life that’s just We travel with an open mind to learn the price of trust Stripping through the layers, we reveal the naked truth Only to find answers that do anything but soothe Our life’s pursuit of happiness can be a daunting task Our low self worth can often make it seem too much to ask And sometimes even when our search has left no stone unturned We carry on to savor all the feelings that we yearn The answers we’ve been looking for through rambles thick and thin Has been there waiting all along, deep in our hearts within The things we need the most in life, are never on a shelf The quest of life will be complete, the day you find yourself |
