They flower at night,
flare gold as the desert stars;
sunrise in the dark.

How very beautiful... and just what I needed to read on this day when sunrise has slept in and only gloom greets the morning. *S*

I do love your haikus... yes. *S* No one writes them better. *S*

We had a flowering cactus in our backyard there in Santa Maria...this brought back some wonderful memories, Ed.

Thank you.

Ed,
I'm going with a different take on this, being that we(as Americans) are still involved where in my opinion we do not belong, here's how I see this. Iraq, explosions at night,lighting the sky.
Nothing beautiful about it.

Sunrise in the dark...what a beautiful thought. What stunning words to express it.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Excellently penned!!

Now, is nightgold the same or akin to moonflower?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
