Orange bright,
The remaining dew from an ancient morning
Droplet of tree blood,
Did a beast of old release you from your flesh -
In its morning hunger?
Did you see one of the beasts that children dream of?

Has an ancient man tasted your brother?
A man, rugged and simple
And powerful
How often did he gaze at the same moon as I
Or marvel in the change of seasons?

Could he ever guess someone not yet born –
In ages distant, when he was but dust

Would wear you around their neck?

I loved this when I read it the first time, but I forgot to comment on it.  So glad that it was brought back up.  Well done work...some poems are written, but this one is crafted...nicely done.

Thank you everyone - I appreciate your comments. This one was a lot of fun (and thought provoking) to write.
