This is a blues song designed for some traditional acoustic blues guitar

with this old guitar in my hands
n no light in my heart
I been singin the blues since we've been apart
You cut me deep n I feel like a fool
now I got a fever left over from you.

I put my trust in your promises
like you knew I would do
you kept me believin in me and you
then along came old Santa sweet daddy claus
he gave you everything a woman could want

Chorus:
baby playin this guitar
don't settle no scores
but someday woman
I'll see you outside his door
you'll be cryin girl
cause he found someone new
then you'll know the words
to this song about you

with this old guitar in my hands
I'm gonna sing right through the pain
right through the darkness, right through the rain
til I can face the days with my heart healed
n learn to deal with the way I feel

chorus:
baby this old guitar
don't settle no scores
but someday woman
I'll see you outside his door
you'll be cryin girl
cause he found someone new
then you'll know the words
to this song about you

Bridge:
so when you see me baby don't ask me how I've been
cause you know I been alone while you been with him
girl don't say someday maybe we'll talk
cause you ain't no friend... the only friend I got
is this old guitar to help me sing out the hurt
til I get over you for better or worse

Rep Chorus:
baby playin this guitar
don't settle no scores
but someday woman
I'll see you outside his door
you'll be cryin girl
cause he found someone new
then you'll know the words
to this song about you

Ain't doin nothin at all
Just answerin the call
Kinda driftin away from it all~~~~~

ethome,

Grab your guitar, sit at a piano and put some music with this baby.  I sung this one and I will sing with you as soon as you have finished the melody.
Simply awesome.

How did I miss this?  Now not only are the words incredibly good, and "country" but I happen to really like the song, it has real heart.  Let me know when this one is out and I would sure buy it!  Great job Eric.

You were welcome then, and even more welcome now, as I take a moment to read it over, again...

Just sorry I didn't respond the first time!  I need to start sending your lyrics to my brother, who is also a musician...I think he'd enjoy looking them over!

Eric, another good blues tune.
But one comment about word order, I would reverse the position of 'pain' and 'rain' maybe (sing out in the rain)...just the way my heart and ears hear it.
