As the salesman reaches down to slip on a shoe
he looks at the fat foot, then wonders what to do
the shoe looks perfect it appears that it does
not pinch
yet he wants to make sure it will not grow another inch...

When it comes to exact size the man will likely treasure a measure
To a potential fat foot this measure is no pleasure
cause if the salesman has to fill his quota for the day
he's got to prevent the customer from walking away...

And he might blame the bad fit on the plumpness of the foot
insist the foot fit the shoe so he might be called a crook
there is method in his keeness and he's oblivious to client needs
cause he's there to fit the shoe on, unaware the client's no longer pleased

We reach down daily to slip on a shoe
sometimes wondering what we're about to do
are we about to treat ourselves with total disregard
like shoe clerks who insist on one fit and try so hard.

Raven

As long as a few people are sincerely interested in what I write that's great...why appeal to everyone, life would be too predictable then, wouldn't it?

The shoes become the man? . . . or, maybe . . .
