Her Seasons

December winds are cruel and cold
And many secrets do they hold
But it is just the passing wind
That stirs the pain she holds within
But she is young and doesn’t know
What lies beneath the winter snow

The April rains will be her tears
And touch her cheek for many years
Until one day her eyes behold
The colored petals that unfold
And spring will be her heart’s rebirth
As winter seeds adorn the earth

And in the summer of her days
Her scars will heal in many ways
And she will learn the season’s grace
That’s harbored deep beneath her face
But she is young and doesn’t know
That God will let her spirit grow

When painted leaves beneath fall skies
Are tumbling into lovely eyes
They’ll decorate an injured heart
With joy and beauty they impart
And she will welcome winter’s snow
That fills her eyes with shimmering glow

But she is young and doesn’t see
The things in life that are to be
Her sorrow carved it’s deepest wound
In pits where spring will leave its bloom
But she is unaware of this
That deeper scars hold greater bliss

Sometimes, though we cannot forget,
A fuller life holds less regret
And every season marks its name
And every heart has joy and pain
But she is young and doesn’t know
What lies beneath the winter snow

You actually have time to write I should know you would find a way of sharing the beauty of your wisdom.  This was indeed a beauty Liz, and how true these two lines are in particular...

Sometimes, though we cannot forget,
A fuller life holds less regret

(big angel hugs) Oh Elizabeth, my prayers go out to all the youth in the world who desperately cry aloud to the atmosphere, waiting on an indication, a symbol of hope to come to sweep them off their feet through the gray! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This is the best poem I've ever read from you, Elizabeth, and it's my favorite too. We all experience the seasons of life, and the more seasons we experience, the more we'll understand them. Loved this.

This is so beautiful and so wise... if only we could smooth a few of those bumps in the road... but some learnings only come with time and living. Hurry back, my friend... you are so much missed! *S*

I can barely respond.  This left such a pit in my stomach and tears in my eyes - IN A GOOD WAY.   I just absolutely love this poem.  There is so much to find in it.  And yet the message is so sweet and simply stated and incredibly beautiful in the way you wrote it.  This really moved me and meant something to me.  Thank you.  It's beautiful.  I love so many lines, but this was an amazing point:

"But she is unaware of this
That deeper scars hold greater bliss"

It's such a deep and well-said peice.

Your brought tears to my eyes with these words of wise.  This is a keeper for me.  And though I am not so young...this is a lesson in life that I have not quite gotten.

I have to go back for a few more reads and then this treasure will be libraried for lesson's review as needed.

Liz - Any lessons you impart are true lessons based on a life that is as full as any life Hemingway could have imagined.

For those of you who do not know Liz, take the tme to read what she writes.  She is a wonderful, wonderful person who any grandchild would be blessed to know.  Her life is a treasure of experiences, wonder, and wisdom.  Simply put, Liz is an incredible person.
