The challenge=to write a poem about:

The square root of one hundred and forty four is twelve.

As The Hypoteneuse Feeds

The square root of a gross
is a dozen at most,
but the square root of one
is but one.

Should I plant a square root
in an old leather boot,
would my product be
the worth of a sole?

Could the square root of me
be something to see
or be something quite far
from the whole?

Would the square root of nine
be three times as fine
as the square
of one that is one?

Would the square root of my head
be impossibly said;
I’m sorry
it’s time that I'm done.

No replies? I think this is *CUTE*! I don't even have any critisisms to make! This is the type of thing Science or Math teachers stick beside their computer screens to make 'em smile. I could also see this in lockers.

Cute, my dear, and very clever. I like the rhyme scheme and flow, as well.

To see something as an end is to mourn for it; to see it as a beginning is to have hope.

If the square root of 144 is only 12, you say
And that determination is made by its own play
Of multiplying 12 by itself to clone for us a number
Then knowing that 144 is right, I only wish to wonder

Is the square root of a cloned sheep, whose name is simply Molly,
A wonderdog named Lassie... a lovely star-like collie?

Very clever, VAS!! I love to read poetry about a subject no one had ever considered...you've done that here. We have had lover's triangles, the circle of life, three squares a day,,,but no hypotenooses!!!

Is there life aftermath?
