On leathered wings of dragon’s flight
and soaring skin of greenish gold.
Of brilliant stars and boldest knight
where flowers bloom in days of old.

The stars, the heavens darkened black,
the wisp of mist on tendrils air.
A dragon’s soar in night’s attack
in boldness sure and daring flair.

Eyes of evil and certain death
claws of skillful clutching steal.
Fire of sulphur, a dragon’s breath
brings to one's heart an eerie feel.

Lair of stone and cavern deep
upon the mountain’s craggy ledge.
Preys in darkness and fitful sleep.
The fear that flows in frightful dredge.

Oh come to me thy beastly maw
and breath of thee thy fiery flame.
I know you sleep, a hungry craw
I whisper thee my chosen name.

On winged death and waited dread
our shadows cross beneath yon moon
I wait to take from thee thy head
the hour is nigh, our time is soon.

For from the air in tumbling fall
a beast shall crash the earth below.
And lands shall shout in glee for all
as one's demise brings whitest snow.

For in the beast pure evil swills
and from it’s heart one life now spills

(big angel hugs) Yay! No need to fear...Dragon Man is here! (smiles) If not for you, those meddlin' dragons would be more than just snorin' loud echoes over the valley, hehehe, yay for Dragon Man, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

A triple WOWser, Barry!  I dare not read this one to my little one...you know she knows much more than I thought...it's been a peaceful Sunday morn so far (no tears from the little one and just teenage attitude from the other) as we listen to the ice storm outside...and I wish that dragon with breathe a bit of fire on the roads and sidewalks.

An excellent write, my friend.

so cool...so very cool...with all the elements that make good poetry good...loved the stanza:

"On winged death and waited dread
our shadows cross beneath yon moon
I wait to take from thee thy head
the hour is nigh, our time is soon"

Of course, any line that lets me read wing-ed, instead of winged, is going to be great in my book...thanks for the enjoyable read
