As midnight’s music melts in melancholy,
I see her as a memory,
hazy, indistinct in form,
a clouded reminisce of once touched dawn.
how can this be?
to stand before me like a shadowed dream
when once her beauty spoke to me,
beckoning from forth her eyes,
so beautiful, so rare,
and now, I am confused
not content to hide in slumber’s cave-
I feel no anger as I maunder
whil'st she stands in gauze of midnight's hour,
beyond the reach of memory's grasp.
