We are the subject of today. We are tomorrow.
Our parents leave a lineage that we must follow.
Or else we will hear how history is repetition.
Will we falter under this stressful disposition?

Day after day we listen to their words of wisdom
But how many times do they themselves stop to listen?
So few of us are as ignorant as they truly believe.
Even fewer are smart enough to walk away, to leave.

If we were to listen attentitively to what they say,
The world will continue to sicken each and every day.
Already we suffer choices that were for "the best".
So why in their ways should we continue to invest?

I do not speak of a violent or physical outburst.
I speak of the tool past generations forgot first
Before they thought, instinct was what prevailed.
Intellect and patience are now ours to reveal.

If in that lineage we so choose to blindly follow.
What can we guarantee about us or our tomorrow?
History can repeat only if choices remain the same.
So let's change the rules or start a brand new game.

Hope can only be found inside yourself, never in a person or thing.

I liked this part a lot! The subject of this poem was an interesting thing to read about and truthfully I've never really thought about it that much. Yet, now I will start thinking more and more about this...

The title of this poem is really what captured my attention though. It fits so perfectly to the whole poem, or the poem fits to it? I'm not sure but I liked it a lot...

Thanks for sharing!
