i.

we all hoped he would uncover
my lies.
like no one could ever
take me on.
there was a passing of hopeful
smiles.
smiling; for me.
promises; for you.

ii.

the initials cutting deeper than
the initial attraction.
your hand burning the flames
onto my skin.
fragile; those times were.
un-silenced, i always showed
you my battle scars.
she can make it,
she can make it through the fog.

iii.

dear black,

please let us fade.
so, i can stop remembering how
it was.
how we were,
when the happiness was never
this hard to make.

iv.

when holding my hands, they.
she. he. would whisper,

you’re
so
beautiful.

don’t give her. time
to drown.

hand her a life preserver,
make sure the boat is close
by to sweep her up.

up, up and away from where
she
thinks she needs to belong.

v.

i never got a chance
to tell them that
i never
really
belonged
in the first place.
