A bird  came down the walk,
pecking every other step or so
between the mossy cobblestones.

His colors elegant shades of grey,
triple toned, with black dip on his wings,
feathers rumpled. His beak goes down again.

He comes back up,
with a wriggling worm,
hanging from his beak.

His eyes worn and worn,
he bears a secret,
wise beyond his years.

He bobbles his head,
flutters his wings in excitement,
and then takes flight.
