In an upside-down garden

She admits that in the past
she may have made some mistakes
may have gone about it the wrong way
said everything she didn't mean
let her grasp on the world slip,
let her worry get in the way.

Sometimes she let's the world
get the best of her, caring for others
all the time has left her broken
sometimes she needs to worry
about herself, sometimes she forgets
that there are others around.

She admits that in the past,
she was a broken, struggling person,
invisible to everyone, sometimes wanting attention,
as she clung desperately to everything
that she was never allowed to have,
wanting just to get a little for herself.

Sometimes, like now, she wonders
how they all are doing, those people
that let her go, and she thinks
that maybe someday it would be possible
to get them back, to bring them home,
to have them share her world again.
