I thought it was over
I thought it was the end
It seemed like it was over
I had lost my very best friend

It started with a misunderstanding
That later turned into a lie
When it came time to admit my faults
I didn’t have a good alibi

I am not saying it was all me
That is far from being right
Neither of us wanted to admit anything
That is what started the fight

We had never fought like that
It was all so brand new
When it came to knowing what to do……..
I didn’t have a clue

Questions went through my mind
Should I give in?
No, that wouldn’t be mutual
It would be letting him win

We fought and fought
Sometimes with words that were cruel
After about three weeks of it
That was it, I was out of fuel

Just when I thought the friendship was over
There came a gleam of light
One night he IM’d me
I just expected another fight

At first it did start out that way
We said the same old things
Then the light came and the tension was gone
Gone like the wind over a bird’s wing

We spoke with kind words
But on IM you can’t tell a person’s tone
I didn’t know where we stood
I decided to ask him in person rather than on the phone

I asked him where that left us
He asked me, “Where do u want us to be?”
It was then that I realized
That clear communication was the key

Where did I want us to be?
That I already knew
It was convincing him that was hard
Would he believe it to be true?

I didn’t expect him to listen
At least not as well as I wanted him to
He ended up surprising me
And for once he believed everything to be true

How could he think that I didn’t care for him?
When did that thought appear?
That thought was wiped away from his mind
Our friendship was then back into full gear

You can never really cure something or someone
The initiative to strive for it is the real appeal
What the outcome is….
It is just something you have to feel

Beautifully done, Bravo! I really loved this poem, the meaning behind the words is one that every person should take to heart. Very well written and expressed.
~Live and Laugh~

Because of you I laugh a little harder, smile a little more, and cry a little less

I usually don't like really long poems because it seems like a lot is repeated, but I really liked this one, I liked how it told a story, and that I could relate to
