stone cupid

im found in this courtyard once again,
left alone by those who wished me well,
those people that i considered friends
set up a stone cupid near the white trees.
stone cupid holds his stone arrows in the air,
poised, ready to fire at any moment.
his aim is true, never holding an err,
even though he cannot be moved.
he targets my porcelain heart,
the one that i wear out in the open.
he knows that love has broken it apart
before the courtyard was ever constructed.
i've been so careful to guard the healing
that takes place even now.
ive even regained some emotional feeling
and the tingling has left my soul to be at peace.
i've been stripped down to nothing,
left with only the necklace on which the heart dangles.
so defenseless against cupid's coming
and the intent glinting in his marble eyes.
the sound of a bow rings in the air,
the pain of the initial piercing convulses my body.
i lay on the ground gripping my hair,
tearing out chunks in sheer agony.
cupid's stone face has been turned into a grin,
he sees the pain that he causes with love.
he chuckles to himself, knowing he's to the win,
the prize is elated happiness for me, but later.
my friends return to see the damage done,
many turn away from my screams,
they avert their eyes from mine, save one,
her eyes follow mine wherever they lead.
she is dressed in angel's clothing,
no halo adorns her head, but her glow might as well be it.
my pants lessen in my knowing,
that this is the saviour cupid had in mind for me.

in the courtyard where years ago i lie,
a procession is in motion, moving slowly but surely.
all the friends have come and are in white,
they've come to see a broken heart mended like new.
i stand at an altar made of alabaster
and my saviour stands across from me,
we dont hear anything from the parishioner
we are enraptured with each other's presence.
this is the end of a stony and soft tale,
one that has been passed down from many,
one of follow love's broken trail
and the union of two into just a perfect one.

now im alone, but not lonely like before

Very visual piece. Vivid imagery. I really like the idea of love hurting, until you see who it is.
Going in my library.

We were meant to live for so much more have we lost ourselves?
Maybe redemption has stories to tell maybe forgiveness is right where you fell.
