Broken Memories & Falling Tears

0 posted 2003-11-19 06:54 PM

I could have told you I was smoking,
I could have told you about having a drink.
But I knew what you would say,
And I knew what you were going to think.
I was always the innocent one,
The one who knew better then the rest.
The one who never would try to pass,
Their dare-devilish test.
But I decided against my second thoughts,
That no one would ever become aware.
That I had made such a stupid decision,
And at that single moment, I just didn’t care.
So I grabbed a drink when no one was looking,
Gulped it down quickly and full of shame.
Now I no longer was Innocent Ness,
I suddenly had become stripped of my good name.
Instantly I knew that I had made a mistake,
By taking that bottle from the car.
But for a quick ten minutes,
I was made a shinning star.
Everyone was looking at me,
To see my initial reaction.
It was like being at the zoo,
And I was the main attraction.
I sat there feeling horrible,
The pit of my stomach feeling sick.
I sat there for a moment and realized it wasn’t because ofthe drink,
It was because I knew I lowered my self a had just become another chic.
In just a single moment,
I got caught up in the game.
I became just another mindless face,
Just another somebody without a name.

Welcome to Passions! This poem was sad, but it was well written. You tell stories very nicely. Check your email for a special message. Once again, welcome!

welcome! and this was very well done. It actually reminded me a lot of a friend of mine, who was clean from drugs for months, then started again but was too ashamed to even admit to it. you definately captured a lot of emotion. Great job!!

Welcome, I really liked this because right now my best friend is really innocent and thinks I am too, but I have had a few drinks before, but I don't want her to think of me that way.  Nice work

Thank you all very much, I am glad that I have gotten such positive feedback, this is something I wrote to my parents one day after I was missing for a weekend and they wanted to know what happened, I was too ashamed to tell them so I wrote this and gave it to them...Needless to say I've been grounded since the summer and I'm grounded until January 1, 2004-but that's okay 'cuz tough love'sthe best ) thank you all again
