This life is tearing me apart
I’m falling to the ground
Every time I try to stand back up,
I’m pushed back down

Now I’m broken,
Unable to stand
Consumed with anger
I am blind
I don’t understand

I thought I was walking the narrow line
The path to eternal life
But instead I was deceived
I’ve been my own worst enemy

I lied to myself again and again
Thinking I was right
“Only once, that’s all and never again”
“Then later I’ll say I’m sorry, that I didn’t know”

Little did I know, I could never fool you
But I can’t stop this now
This is who I am to others
I can’t change now

I can, but I won’t
I’m too ashamed
You know this and you want to tell me
But I can’t let you

Because you know this,
It makes me feel even worse
I’m afraid of you
Yet I admire you

How can you hold on to your faith?
Without wearing a mask like mine?
It doesn’t seem possible
Yet it is,
Your living proof

Ok... well... this one i actually wrote about a teacher of mine. haha. yeah... he is an awsome teacher, quite intimidating, but great all the same. I was going through so much at this point, i was dealing with my parents divorce, my friends and their problems, as a whole and individually, and with myself, self-identity i guess. I'm much of a confidant with my friends, which i have no problem with because i love to help out any way i can, but at the time, it put such a heavy burden on my shoulders and i felt like i had no one to turn to, after all, wasn't it everyone that turned to me? so i was confused, and angry. and my grades began to reflect my emotional and mental state. It was close enough to the end of the term that i was gonna pass all my classes, except my english class... which i barely passed, but all this led to so many other poems, some of which ive posted here on the forum. Well... anyway... i knew my teacher could sense how i felt, and so this poem was written, along with "Thank You" which was half-aimed towards him. but yeah... haha... boy i talk to much. lol. ^_^

" So let us then try to climb the mountain, not by stepping on what is below us, but to pull us up at what is above us, for my part at the stars; amen

Vickie, I really loved your poem. It's so real and from your heart. I like that in poetry. That's the only way that I know to write.

And, about the "talking to much"....LOL
I'm been accused of that all my life. LOL
