You claimed the stars on darkest nights
with a thousand prayers and wishes,
made the moon your guiding light on
mountains of reflection.
Your seasons mostly winter, starkly
black and white, felt the draw of hills
above the timberline.
You bore each stone along the way
as a small bird in your hand, blessed
with healing water and released
into a higher firmament.
These final hours of snow and falling stars,
find you like the snow leopard,
a solitary, on the pathway to the gods.
