Loathe Me
- by The Vestibular Bard

But do thy worst to steal thyself away,
In anguished verse thou art assured mine;
My joy no longer than thy loathing stays,
For it thrives upon these words of thine.
I have no need to fear the worst of posts,
When in the least of them I’ve been amused…
I see the chance to feed my art morose;
Which preys ‘pon thy anger and stands bemused.
Thou can not vex me with an ignore list,
When my own joy on thy revolt doth lie.
Tis my sarcastic rhyme thou can’t resist,
Happy to hear you laugh, and see you cry!

A good read, enjoyed! I've read modern sonnets that take liberties with the form and think perhaps for today's reader, that's the way to go. Will be looking for more of your work.

Thank-you Jennifer...Mark is right, but then evolving forms, don't care what you call them...

I've only tried writing sonnets a couple of times, ended up banging my head on the desk in frustration. Perhaps that's why modern sonnets are more to my liking. If the traditional forms are what you like to write, there are folks who post in CA, the Critical Analysis forum, who could give you some really good feedback on your work.

The sonnet form I like, is one with 10 syllables per line, and every other line rhyming...with two additional rhyming lines, that form a strong conclusion, at the end...this one lacks those final lines, but keeps the rest of the form.
