It’s too early to start the poésie du jour
when the mind is still cluttered
with yesterday’s crumbs
stuck in the keyboard, coffee stained half-done
to do lists of chores
in the hurricane
winds of too busyness.
The blank page for free verse
turned over for Freecell
that mindlessly blinks *game over*
when your on a winning streak.
HAL defending
his programmed directive?
It’s the hour of street sweepers,
dumpster dumpers
and bumps in the night
that rumble like earthquakes,
tectonic plates of worries
and cares rubbing against
the raw eyes of sleeplessness.
The dark waters of night
seethe with the sound of a s-l-o-w-l-y
turning door knob, and the hiss
of reptilian creatures
slithering around your bare feet
on the cold lino of paranoia
in a mind that won’t settle down
into the goose feather belief,
the sun will come out tomorrow.

Thank you very much for your kind comment, nakdthoughts. Think I'm going to change overstimulation (a rather clunky word) to paranoia.
