You’ll fall for anyone

Even fall on your face,

For just a taste of love

You’ll cut yourself,

They’re not for you,

You never asked for this

Body after body,

Lips placed upon lips

They barely know you,

You hold them so tight,

You frighten them!

Why are you acting like that?

You’re not in love

They can’t break your heart,

You’ll never feel the rush…

of love in bloom,

So unlock your grasp,

Just let them go!!

You’re not in love,

Release the lies,

You’ll never feel the pain of..

“I’m leaving you.”

You are so disgusting,

Look at you!

Like flyers you hand out..

pieces of your soul,

like a sidewalk you let them,

walk all over your..

private parts,

They can’t numb the loss,

They can’t make it right,

Hell has only begun,

Your lawn has been mowed.

Summer has retreated to..

accommodate your fall,

You’ve betrayed a heart,

just embrace your fate,

You run into their arms,

to take a vacation away from...

yourself.. .

but..

you can’t escape,

...

Like a homeless and starving child,

You stretch and yearn for a taste,

Why can’t you just wait?!

You’ll fall for anyone

Even fall from grace

I really liked this--I've read it a couple of times, and the truth of it is powerful.

You approached a sensitive subject boldly, and although there is a tone of condemnation, I think the earnest caring of frustration overides that.

Well done.

I haven't been in this forum in a while, but I'm glad I took the peek.

extremely good! I like this poem very much. The sharp words open souls.
very, very good, indeed.

You hit THAT nail right on the head.  Perfect level of understanding and disdain...  observed from the outside looking in, or the inside looking out- no matter.  Love the flyer analogy.  Perfect visual, that loser job- summer in the city- trying to get anyone passing by to take what you offer.

I've been out of the loop for a LONG time, but I really liked this.  I don't know what the true interpretation should be, but I see this as someone who might have been living the "swinger" lifestyle denying themselves of true love, and trading it for pure lust.  Whatever the message here, this was a great read and I look forward to reading more.

Ditto to all of the above.  I read it as someone trying to fulfill a need, but truly knowing what the need is and instead, substituting theirselves for some instant gratification - thinking it might be hope.

I'm in awe, riviting prose, loved it.  So many truths in this poem.
