Aching for friendship in darkness unbearably heavy
The world around is grey and blurring at the edges
Silence punctures a hole into the heart
The stillness is deafening like the clanging of an unrelenting bell

Echoing emptiness envelops in an arctic cloud
Though the air is balmy, the heart is freezing
Loneliness, the frost encasing the forgotten rose
Turning it into a muted white
The brittle rose, breaks at the lightest touch
Wilts away, neglected

Time stretching to a stop
Weighing heavily over the heart
Listening hard, waiting,
A footstep, a voice,
Someone to hold
Dreaded solitude at bay

Alone
In the midst of a crowd
Indistinct shadows
No one breaking through
Barriers isolate and fold in crushing

Slowly, loneliness stalks
Creeping up unexpected and uninvited
Suffocating fear brings a metallic taste
Until someone reaches out, loneliness will continue to skulk mercilessly

This was a very nice poem, in fact, I was a bit jealous at first. It seemed to embody the feelings of emptiness and neglect I sometimes feel. Carry on.
