resting place in b minor
http://www.vggallery.com/painting/p_0008.htm

I’d have painted the trees in midnight blue,
the sky a sunset rose, the fallen leaves
metallic gold and all the somber
browns and greens with silver.

Instead of a muslin frock, the girl would be wearing
a taffeta ball gown, white with blue velvet sash.
There would be clusters of bittersweet
woven in her hair that streams like Ophelia’s
down the slenderness of her back.

Her hand wouldn't be touching
the rough bark of a tree,
she’d be holding (of course)
a butterfly on the tip of her finger.

All it takes is a little imagination to mentally erase
the somber hues of autumn and escape to a resting place
far from a world more worried about Britney’s underpants
than the cold-blooded slaughter of Buddhist monks.
