i never
thought something could hurt so much.
to have known you
all my life
together always
and then suddenly
not.

that default bond
of loving you like a brother
never expecting anything from each other
we just had to be there
and we were.

my entire life was with you
my whole childhood was laced
with memories of us
not always being kind
but always there.

over time
you faded
i still saw you
and thought of you
as the one who, unconditionally
would be there for me
to stick up for me
when i needed you.

age forced us to part
our familys still close
memories still raw
but distance weakening our bond
but you'd still be there, right?

wrong.
it hurts.
like nothing i've ever felt before
to have someone you loved
and saw as a brother to you
completely disregard
and belittle you

who is she?
i don't know her.
she's pathetic, she's stupid
i wouldn't give her the time of day.

i pretended
for a while
that you would, maybe
still be there for me
but then i saw you
saw the new you
and realised you care less for me
than i could have ever expected

how the hell could you do that??
i can't even see how that is possible
to know me and love me all my life
up til now, where you won't even acknowledge me
i can never forgive you for this.
i hate you.

yet, for some reason
if you need me

i'll be there.

as long as we laugh out loud, laugh like we're mad. because this crazy, mixed up beauty is all that we have.

L.W.D.
I was struck this morning with a random idea to go and check out pipTalk. I'm glad I did.
Your poem was incredibly honest, something I've always liked and it was accompanied with your familiar sound, flow, wording. If it helps any, my love, I actually honestly can relate. I know.

Come on God, do I seem bulletproof?

I really enjoyed this.  These few lines really struck me...

"i can never forgive you for this.
i hate you.

yet, for some reason
if you need me

i'll be there."

It's tough seeing someone you knew from childhood change right before your eyes.  It's always a weird feeling to think you "know" someone, and then, poof, there a completely different person than anything you could possibly imagine.  Just keep writing, and one day, you will meet that someone that will make you forget all about your childhood friend.  This poem was really fluid, and I look forward to seeing more.
