I wrote this song for my father after he committed suicide on 11/3/06. I wrote most of it primarily last night 11/8-9/06 and sang it at his funeral memorial today. God bless you dad. I'll miss you. ------------------------------------------ Father, father, I love you, Dad Why do you throw such heavy stones? I don't understand you sometimes My very own flesh and blood By the grace of Jesus I came from you. Chorus: I remember when I was a kid We'd go riding listening to rock'n'roll You were tough and you could fight, only God could bring you down You taught me that hills and valleys are what make the world go around And yeah, we had our up and we had our down Your boys'll miss you now that you're not around Maybe you and Mom didn't work out so great Even so you had to have a woman The times got rough and the times got hard But you always reminded me of this one thing You said, "Tomorrow's another day." Chorus It was fun to throw some darts and some horseshoes All the friends that would hangout and barbecue There were no limits to what entertainment could bring You loved to fish and you loved to hunt Where else could you have lived but in Texas Chorus When the chain that holds my wallet So tight and snug is broken, Do I find the truth, That I really own nothin. |

Very poignant and touching piece... You honoured him well through your beautiful song. May your father rest in eternal peace. I'm sure the Lord is looking after him well.
