Black Dragon

Such a dignified creature
Ruler of the skies
Cutting through the air with velvet wings
As she seeks refuge in the skies
Invited by the thinner air
Holding less and less problems
The higher up she travels

In a brief moment of vanity,
She mourns over her lost colors
Such brilliant shades of red
That shone with the sunrise
Her favorite time of the day
Before her captivity

Thrown into the pit of despair
And chained to her grief, she was
Stabbed repeatedly by her woes
Driven to the brink of insanity
But no, she was too stubborn to break
So she clung to her hopes for dear life
Until the opportune moment came for escape

Now a free dragon, she returned to the skies
Once again reveling in defiance and pride
Such a noble creature
Goddess of the skies
Cutting through the air on strong wings
As she seeks the solitude of the skies
To mourn the loss of her colors
Because there is a reason why some dragons are black

Dragons, gotta love them, such mystical yet powerful creatures.  I really enjoyed reading your poem and drifting off into the realm of fantasy where dragons rule the sky.

I agree with the other person who posted on loving dragons. I found it of particular interest that you used a black dragon as your subject, usually I think of them as being of the more evil side of things. I liked how you used this poem to make the reader feel kind of sorry for the dragons loss of colors. It made the poem stand out in a different light that I found enjoyable.

Thanks for sharing!
