In a state of limbo

Truth without basis,
Let’s face it,
Our government is totally corrupt,
Negative all the benefits of a republic,
Representation without opposition,
The monopoly on power is complete,
We have two choices,
So let’s take a look-see,
At the American dream…

Without hesitation we annihilated an entire race,
Hunting them down like animals,
Just so we could make some space,
Our drive westwards was brutal and chaotic,
Murdering like machines, our behavior was robotic,
And with glee we marched to the sea, our countenance sardonic,
As we stole the land from those who refused to believe that ANYONE could own it.

The British gave birth to a country of colonization,
The Africans brought over,
In a forced migration,
Slave labor for the new land,
Fostering the embers of hatred,
Towards the “ideal” new nation,
Brought over by the slave ships.

The soil of the nation reddened by the colors of war,
The battle was waged from shore to shining shore,
In the hearts and minds of the citizens,
The republic would not tolerate criticism,
For the moral fight was the good fight,
The nation was divided in a schism.

With economic collapse,
The pyres have birth to a new deal,
A more compassionate government,
A rule you could touch and feel,
It took a war to end the depression,
Freud smiling in his grave,
The economic recession,
Brought bread and dementia,
To a military industrial complex.

Slash and burn these homes for our new oil pipeline,
Take Afghanistan and Iraq,
They will be our new oil lifeline,
Besides,
The natives certainly won’t mind,
Prosperity will come to them,
Just give it some time,
They will surely shine,
With the gleam of an oil slick,
Covering a pile of gold.

The neocons agenda is simple,
They will pop the world as if it were a pimple,
Unite the nation through the use of conflict,
“You are with us, or against us”,
The citizenry forced to run with it,
The American cowboy is now spreading the joy,
Of living in a democracy,
By bombing little girls and boys.

I am glad that you liked it, although, having reread it, I noticed some historical innacuracies.  Perhaps someone will find them and comment?
