Well, sorry, I didn't mean to make this quite that long and I hoped it could be better, but i've got what i've got and i hope ya'll have some suggestions?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sound of your voices resonating in my head
Like rain upon the thatched roof above my bed
I listen to the murmur of your voices until I feel the sun upon my skin
Letting me know you’ve been at it all night once again…
While I bask in what I know as the warmth of day
I ponder last night and the nights before other nights
Wondering, questioning, could this be my fault
Could it be you always argue because of me?
How I wish that it wasn’t true but I know that it is
Cause I’m helpless to help when I want to help
Unable to learn what you need me to learn
A burden upon your head, your cursed child that should’ve been dead
Yet, mother, you kept me on tried to make me strong
When father didn’t care, you held me close, shielding me, protecting me
Never letting him have his way, thinking that I could survive
That I’d be able to see in the light of day, that it would just take time
Ignoring the truth when you should’ve opened your eyes to see
Your only child, that’s me, was a cursed child, a child without hope
One who couldn’t survive without your love, your care, your hoping
Cause when the village wanted me dead you stood up and shook your head
And ignored my father when he had the “Demon” drink in his head
Yet I can hear, with me, the village will ignore that you exist
My father will abuse and bruise you, until you give in
Until you give up this child with the “evilness” inside
Me, that child, that cursed wretch, who’ll be… blind… from birth to death…
An excellent write, very good use of imagery. I can relate to this so well, it describes exactly how i feel. I am the black sheep in my family, the outcast. Reading this brought a lumb to my throat and put me on the verge of tears. I know the emotions behind this poem and what it feels like. I cant wait to see more of your work
hells gate reads Abandon hope all ye that enter here
shall we go?
the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Will you walk with me?
Amazing write, stargal. I really felt for that poor, desolate child; and I could really relate to certain themes there too. You're an extremely talented poet, and you have a real gift for translating raw emotion into words.
Took me a while to find your poem, sorry about that, just learning how to maneuver through the system.
Your poem really touched my heart. You've expressed so well how it feels to be an unwanted child, the black sheep in a dysfunctional family and used some very captivating imagery in doing so. I look forward to reading more of your poetry in the Dark Forum. And thank you so much for the warm welcome and kind comment on my poem.
Hi JenniferMaxwell,
No, thank you for reminding me I had this poem in here! I’d forgotten I even wrote something for dark, so, as you can imagine, when I saw it, it was a bit of a surprise…
Btw- if you haven’t already figured it out, the bar of stuff beside the date of when you post something holds a piece of paper with a glass, it helps to find peoples poems.
Thanks for taking the time to locate my stuff and once again welcome!
may be beautiful within."
