A flock of gulls screech above the door,
They screech far louder than the seas roar,
I see them now with eyes old with eyes wise,
I hear them louder with ears sick of lies.

I am here against my will,
I’ve had my day I’m over the hill,
So they put me here to rot,
I gave them it all I gave them the lot!

I gave them everything I ever had,
But are they grateful are they glad,
No they’re not, of course, of course,
They put me here without remorse.

So I sit amongst the dead and dieing,
So much now I feel like crying,
For this is the prelude to the crypt,
This is where you go when youth has slipped.

So now I take my final stand,
Something that will make my life grand,
I’ve changed my will they won’t get a penny,
I’ve got a lot and they haven’t got any!

So now it’s my turn to move on,
My bodies crippled my mind is gone,
Soon in the ground my body shall sleep,
I cry, for my family will not weep.

Let the moonlight paint your face, let the stars be your cloak...

I’m guessing you and your family don’t get along, that’s to bad. But your poem is great.

How sad, but also very true. We live in such a disposable society, that people don't think twice about discarding what is no longer useful to them. Sadly, even people have seemed to become less important than convenience.

I loved this because it shows how much America, and other nations, no longer value the elderly as much…. Well, maybe I shouldn’t say that, instead it shows how some, not everyone, do not value the elderly. Which is sad but true… maybe it’ll help us think twice…

Although, I also loved this because of the “revenge”! You can’t help but feel sad for the person and yet cheer them on for taking them out of the will. I think you did an excellent job on this poem, it really draws the person into the story, makes them feel the emotions.

I can’t wait to see more of your work in the near future

Good poem. Sad and vengeful. I like it a lot!

how sadly truthfull. we live in a throw away society. very touching. i know what you are going through

hells gate reads Abandon hope all ye that enter here
shall we go?
the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Will you walk with me?

Chilling read, as we expect for those who become older, to become more docile. Instead in this poem, we see plotting.

Very interesting piece.
