The Stone

I long for the bitter-sweetness of death
I long for its warm embrace
Death could be the end of me
Death could mean the end of suffering
Death might be a new beginning
Death is healing in disguise
Wearing a mask of porcelain

Life wasting away
Dreams and desires and laughter
All withering away
I watch as everything slips by
As bones become twigs
And dust fills my wounds

Caught in a pit of my own staleness
Why don’t I shout
Why do I choose to die here in this empty room?

I am more than this empty tomb
I am more than this crumbling wall
I am more than all of this
Its comfort I choose in familiar disgust.

I feel like the marble layer is cracking
And the fragile coal underneath is exposed
What happened to all those diamonds?
That liquid river of gold that flowed through my veins has run dry

Reality is cold and harsh
Its winter is brutal
I wish I could return to the summer fields of my dreams
Where my being was safe and warm
But in the North the sun just doesn’t shine as bright as it used to
Up here in the coldness of truth
I stiffen, and my walk becomes numb
My breath is frozen shut into a puff of solid rock
And I am dazzled…

I am confused…

I am in shock…

I am Rage.

I am nothing.

I am turning into stone.

I am slowly turning into stone.

I am Rage inside becoming a stone.

You might call me The Stone.

I am The Stone.

''Life wasting away

And dust fills my wounds''

i thought that was beautifully written.

overall the poem was really great... great imagery.
there was so such emotion in it, and i loved the way it seemed to fade away near the end... it tied in perfectly with the turning into stone concept.

excellent read.
