On the edge of an abyss

0 posted 2006-04-24 01:43 AM

From my lips there comes no sound
but my heart is crying out;
  Can you hear it?

And my eyes, they shed no tears
because they're hidden deep inside;
  Can you see them?

My face, it shows no feelings
because they're locked inside myself;
  Can you feel them?

My heart is sad and broken
but I cannot let it show;
  Can you sense it?
   Do you care?

Wow, yeah, I get this one! Leaving (or keeping) every true emotion underneath is what creates a lot of depression in people. Whats cool is through poetry, even though the subject if this poem speaks of repression and secrecy of one's true feelings, the poem itself tells us whats inside...so its kinda like a huge contradiction in a way, which blows my mind. We do know your heart cries, and whats inside cause the words tell us! But to "others" in the world of this poem, everything is kept hidden, so you see the tension.

me likes it...

Thanks! Sometimes it seems like my whole life is a contradiction. And it gets hard to keep pretending all the time.
