I lay asleep throughout every day,
Then wake up during the evening,
I’ll creep up right behind you,
Then find that you are screaming.

I’m black,
Deafening’ but silent,
Cold’ and yet, very,
Very warm,
I’m empty,
But full,
And yet, you fear me all the same.

If you think you are alone,
You’ll find you aren’t,
I’ll be watching and waiting,
Time doesn’t matter to me no more than does the rising sun.

I’ll be found creeping in corners,
Waiting,
Just waiting,
In wait for my lighter and younger sister to find her way to sleep.

Restlessly?
Yes,
You could say that,
Waiting restlessly,
For that dear young child of my mother to fall asleep,
Then slowly disappear,
So that I might take over for a time,
And serve my idea of fun.

You’ll find me waking as soon as the evening comes,
Then sleep when comes the dawning,
And other times,
I’ll be found,
Where you will think it to be the most unexpected.

For I’m the absence of light,
Her evil twin,
I hope you find you aren’t afraid.

Although I can be deceiving,
I’m not always as bad as you’ve heard me described,
I’m just simply,
I guess you could say,
Misunderstood?

I may steal all hopes of escaping my grasp,
And sometimes take away all happiness,
Then replace it simply with fear.

I’m always here,
And will always be waiting,
To steal all dreams,
Things you should hold dear.

My idea of fun?
She has no idea,
My sister I mean,
Her idea of fun,
To hunger for the sound of laughter,
Where I’ll hunger for the stench of fear.

So in a way,
You could say that one is like the other,
We long for objects we cant obtain,
Until we’ve given up our duty,
For we keep all nature in balance,
Day and night,
They both have a meaning,
One to be full of happiness; laughter; life,
The other also full of life,
However, it also holds sorrow.

Who ever cared whether one is like the other?
It doesn’t matter,
We are alike no matter how much it may pain us from time to time.

So I’ll always be here,
To awaken the fear,
Of darkness,
Anger,
Nightmares,
And screams.
