The Dust Beneath My Feet

THE DUST BENEATH MY FEET:

I feel the dust beneath my feet
As I flail along the path
It seems to be a certain defeat
Those irons of my past

I wake from the journey of peaceless sleep
To an endless, drawn out day
Life at times can seem so cheap
To those who don’t have to pay

For the nightmare of life is always at play
And I am forced to fight
Forever the cold dawn of day
Haunts my costly flight

I reach for something calmly sure
Always just out of reach
Those I grasp cannot endure
And fade as the dust beneath my feet

If my weighted past remains behind
What is left to reflect this mind?

at times it can seem things are always just out of reach, nice write.

Awake through motion with curiosity to curtain your first move
Over arms length they'll break protocol
Jealous envy for the youngest one
