The lilacs desired your love
and bent in the wind to follow your steps
the rolling waves
a craving
the desire, the stain

Remember the summer
we were amazed
swayed by passion
drifting aimlessly
the noon, the heat

Doubts arose, the stream diverged
summer fades to fall
the willow, leaves shaped like lockets
like embers to the earth
the fall, the summer caught inside

In spring the garden blooms
the lilacs from memory
reciting last year's notes
the wind recalling
the merging, the fading

Like a statue
carved in waiting
frozen, a lasting winter
lilac bloom forgotten, leaves about my feet
my silence speaks for me
