Huddling in the dark

I came home tonight
  you slammed the front door
I cowared away from you
  you just raised your voice
I cowared more
  then you raised your hand
it hits me once
  I hit the wall
and then the floor
is that all I'm ever meant to be?
You hit harder
  I begin to fight back
the more I fight
  the harder you hit
you hit me for what seems like hours
til' I lie motionless on the floor
you walk out
  I lay still and cry
tonight's the night
  that I almost died.

"See my wrists;
I feel your pain."-Creed

Andi~
You've penned a poetic scene that happens far too often in our society~

'I lay still and cry
tonight's the night
  that I almost died.'

And in too many cases the 'almost' turns into sure death~
If you know anyone who goes through this, encourage them to get the help that may very well save their life~

True story - I had just such a friend, and believe me we all tried to get her to leave the man of her choosing ... she didn't and it cost her the loss of her life~

Thank you for this penning~

Thanks for reading. Far too often these types of things go on with out anyone to say something about it. It's just time someone finally said something.
