Just Wait
By Joseph Knob

It shouldn’t have turned out like this
It pains me now to see
How so much in our world went wrong
A now unpleasant place to be

What happened to the dreams I had
What happened to myself
Why do I feel so helpless now
With loved ones fraught with failing health

Why do I cry myself to sleep
And scream so loudly at the sky
Why do I have to work each day
Wishing all along to die

It shouldn’t have turned out like this
Something just went wrong
This country rots from inside out
Consumerism sings it’s song

Everywhere this day I turn
They try to sell me more things yet
They try to take the hard earned cash
I gained through tears and blood and sweat

They do not care about me
Or you, or anybody else
The only thing they worship now
Is money on their bloody shelves

One day you just might understand
To suffer is to live
With no social security
For us, or for our little kids

What, if anything, will save us
Why are we so filled with pain
What happened to the love God gave us
Washed away by winter’s rain

Where, I ask, is our God now?
does he have anything to say?
To those he has neglected
for so long
And to this bitter day?

Perhaps, we’re just not listening,
To what the good lord has to say.
Perhaps all this is one big game
Maybe our dreams come anyway

Maybe our dreams shall all come true
When we reach the afterlife
Where we sing and dance and fly
Away from this land where we all died

However everywhere I go,
I see people who don’t care
For anything but their bitter selves
At me they frown and stare

Perhaps, I just don’t know them
Perhaps, I don’t even know myself
Perhaps, they all be Angels
In disguise and in good health

Things will change, and change they must
I hope you are prepared
For things that happen, they shall happen
Bring it on, for I don’t care,

but care I do, and I’m not scared,
If I shall die, I will die proud,
If I’m to fall, I shall fall true
“I have won!” I say aloud

Live and learn then, life goes on
Under cold and distant skies
They shall tell you life goes on
but, my friend, I wonder why.

CONFUCIOUS SAY: YOU STAND ON TOILET, YOU HIGH ON POT!
