I remember running
from the sheltered tent
into your warm clear waters.
The sands were blazing
and there was no escape
from the heat of the moment.
Even the sandals on my feet
did not keep me from feeling
the intensity of you.

Sharm-el-Sheikh.

And seeing the news
burns these soles again,
singhing the very soul of me.
Bowing my head in sorrow,
feeling the heat of
inhumanity's shame.

remembering Abba Kovner, Kibbutz Ein Hahoresh

"Poetry," he said, "is a request for pardon for what we do in our lives, and for what was done to us."

thanks friends
I am having a really difficult time lately, not only in my own life, but in watching the news, reading the realities of so many others

and some days, my only refuge
is Pips.

has been my refuge all along . . .
I am with you there, Kacy.

I do not watch t.v. or get the paper.
I am so out of it - I WANT to be out of it
because everything is so ridiculous . . .
just way out of control.

lol, Sue, guess it's not a hug, but it's a friendly icon that I remember easily without looking them up

thanks, YES, Martie!

Thanks, M. And I only watch it two or three times a week, for that reason, though I generally read online at least once a day.
It's sad, because when I was in high school, I studied journalism, wrote for the school and the local paper, and wouldn't let one day pass without immersing myself in local, national, and world news. And that was before the internet, when I had to go to the library or a top-notch book store or magazine stand to get my hands on the 'foreign' papers. I find I must be a lot more selective now as to what I read, and not just due to a lack of time. And that? bugs the heck out of me.
