This is my first time to post
in this forum because my poetry is
usually too jubilent and light, but I think
that this poem might qualify...
Merry Christmas.

Father-Time

Once comes a stranger to your town
who looks from far away
His skin is pale, his breath is stale
his eyes are cold and grey
And walks he with a wooden cane
that’s bleached so white with miles
That each step taken reeks in pain
his sufferings and trials
But, still, he holds each memory
so close to him I swear
That every time his heart does beat
a new tale you might hear
Of scaly wags and alley skags
of bravery and scorn
But nothing more of which he brags
than when the Christ was born.

Once comes a stranger to your town
who shows up unaware
He has no need to beg or plead
though feeble feet he bears
And gain holds no recourse for him
no future and no age
The fall from God -- The fall of men
turns just another page
Resounding from the Book of Life
held firmly in his hands
He speaks the words that like a knife
cuts deep the Lord’s commands
To Love, to Cherish, and Obey
to Hold, and Never Doubt
The One who came on Christmas Day
to show what life’s about.

Once comes a stranger to your town
there’s choices to be made
To be reborn with Father-Time
or in the grave be laid.

Poetic Storytelling at it's best!
LighthouseBob, this was magnificent,
& so well delivered!
Share more, for we love to see a ray
occasionally,
in a darkened room.

News_From_Nowhere,

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this to you before, but your responses are even Poetic. That's really Neat. I guess that I as a lighthouse, metaphorically, could prime my lamp occasionally and be a ray in a darkened room, but I do think, truly, that I have been the one to receive much more light from you than I have given out. (Smiles) Thank you for all of your generous compliments. -Bob
