The point of no return

0 posted 2004-11-14 12:03 PM

Lying still in the night,
wishing what I sometimes will.
Waiting for what?
Hoping for...
Seeing what I wouldn't.
Wondering what might have been.
Wishing that you hadn't.
Knowing what I had to do,
screaming that I couldn't.

Make it go away.

All the impurity,
the grease and grime,
the unclean.
Burned into my skin,
seeped into my blood stream.

Because of you.

Feeling in the soul you ruined,
it would never go away.
It had tainted me.
I couldn't get rid of it.

Unless.

I let it all spill out,
in a rush,
all at once.

And I will start all over.

And I will start all over.  I like that line very much.  We all start over whether we know it or not.  Enjoyed the read, steve.

Thanks, I guess this one has a two-sided meaning, depending on how one chooses to take "starting over."

"World's use is cold, world's love is vain, world's cruelty is bitter bane; but is not the fruit of pain." Elizabeth Barrett Browning
