The point of no return

I will not remake myself
into what you think I should be.
I'm not willing to give up
what is essentially me.
Yes, I know you don't approve.
I couldn't quite care less.
So what if you think I'm fat,
and my hair's a mess.
You don't like my attitude,
or the clothes I wear,
you don't like the way I talk,
or how I fix my hair.
You'll spend hours at the mirror
getting everything just right.
Scrutinizing every detail
in an all too critical light.
Don't lose sight of who you are
or what you're meant to be.
It isn't in your looks, your clothes,
it's not what everyone sees.
Don't worry what they think of you,
it doesn't matter much.
The acceptance that you're looking for
won't come with high school's clutch.
Maybe your soul will be laid bare,
but still you'll get a smile.
And it won't be for your hair.

"I'm through accepting limits 'cause someone says they're so. Some things I cannot change but 'til I try I'll never know. Too long I've been afraid of losing love I guess I've lost. Well if that's love it comes at much too high a cost. I'd sooner buy Defying gravity, kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity. And you can't pull me down."

This poem describes my life right now.  I'm going to a big city where I know no one.  I'm not taking a car or many belongings, just faith, a backpack with some stuff, and an acoustic guitar.  God will be there though so I don't have anything to worry about.  Enjoyed the write... or right.

I have to give PBC the " Touche' " Award tonight. It's a very prestigious award... kinda like the pip-oscar. A great stance for self in an equally great poem!

Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere

*bows* Thank you, thank you.  I'd just like to thank the acedemy and society in general for being so f'd up.  I couldn't have written this without you.

Alright, all cynicism aside, glad you all liked this.  It was something I wanted to get out of my system.
