Let's engage ourselves in conversation.
It's the hardest game to play.
Before I even finish one sentence,
how many have you developed in your mind?

It's so hard not to interrupt, isn't it?
I inspired a thousand replys and haven't ended my sentence;
Is is about getting the last word?
Is it a strategy of "paraphrase, but I add!"

Who here knows more about love?
Who here knows more about God?
Who here knows more about pain?
Who here hears and then knows about me?

There's a reason the quiet game is so dualistic;
for the child, it's an impossible chance to win a game.
For the adult, it's a hope there's no needles in the brain.

Can we truly listen?
Or only hear clue words to incite our own dissertation?
Do we have an original thought?
Or does our thought only become original when we
relate and expound upon someone elses misery?

And maybe I just wasted all these lines to justify the title.
1000 thoughts and what did you say?

Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere

Great poem, your poems are so true to life. Thanks.

how do you come up with things that we all should have? but yet, i guess that's the basis of this one. lol
yes, i listen and find myself already preparing my response before he or she finishes. yet, i call it being inspired by what they are saying. if they want to relate something to me of importance, and i then do relate, then they bloody well are gonna hear what i have to say in return!!!!

this was so kewl. i agree with hollow. you have a way of saying things we all agree with, but never think to write about. good one!

i'll always need a friend, one i can defend.

I never fell for the quiet game trick.
I always found a way to annoy my parents,
Without sound,
Just enough to make them scream at me,
& sometimes beat the living daylights out of me, too.

"Who here hears", indeed!

"So give life to your dreams, for there lies your survival, and cast your heart beyond those faded scenes, and I'll bring you through the storm"
