I can remember when I grabbed that tastey freedom
Personal premature carnal desire
The cutest snake with only a gentle bite
Slut

But this slut isn't a person
My lipstick stained body enjoys the meal
One touch after another
Hold on to it

See I did it
It was me
I'm guilty
I'm the slut

I was the slut
I remember the erotic beattings
And watched my groans turn to cries
Haunting strings attatched to my head

I want to get up and move on
My feet arent steel but the chains hold like a weld
It doesn't budge
and I'm alive and well going anywhere my feet take me

Feel the tender flesh just beneath those chains
Even though the outside edge where the chains block
Is tough and can handle it
Frozen in this

How do I get free
How do I move
How do I live
Break the chains

Break the chains by ripping them
Out of the wall they hold faithful
Or slip out of the cuffs and grips
Come on this is metal

So I'm trapped
And can't...
So I come to another route
I can't live

I can't live
How about take myself out
Don't live
And be dead

So here's what I do
I grab a few short dog chains and link'em together
Pull'em real tight and make it hold real good
Here's my way out...

Out of this cage
Out of this world
Out the house I go to a place far away
In the middle of the woods

Tie this contraption to my tree
Loop around my neck
A hop and a skip and lets go
No note, that's it

On the way my chain feels a tug
I see a small hand
I want this so I fight
I trip and fall and it drags me back

I hear a story
And understand it
This isn't me
These chains are freaks

To get free
Come and see
He tells them to loose, and they do
It's command of the man with the keys

Chains gone
I'm free
No prison
I know he loves me

A trickle of music from a well,
Let it spill and rip through Hell.

Craig,
wow this is stunning
such an amazing poem, i got a little confused at the end, but I still really enjoyed it

Tie this contraption to my tree
Loop around my neck
A hop and a skip and lets go
No note, that's it

On the way my chain feels a tug
I see a small hand
I want this so I fight
I trip and fall and it drags me back

this would have to be my favourite part

keep them coming

love and empathy
darkness,
Sophie

My dear friend Scott Wenzel wanted to share a few lyrics in response to this one, Craig:
"On a dark street, you look so tough,
A young man putting on a bluff.
But late at night, you just want to die;
Alone in your room, you hide away and cry.
There in the quiet, he whispers your name,
Oh, if you answer, you won't be the same..."

Great write, indeed, Craig. And the song, called ironically enough "In His Hands," is from Whitecross' IN THE KINGDOM cd. E-mail me your address as he left me a copy to send to you.
Love, and As Always

Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere

Sophie, the ending part talking about I know he loves me is me talking about God.  He loves me and you and everybody he ever made.  No laugh, because its true.

Thank you Purity.  I'm glad you liked it.  I was actually having self-destructive thoughts with such a chain as described a few days ago.  So I figured I should write about it and give God the glory for it, because it was at church where he grabbed me back and saved my life once again.

so this slut isn't a person, but yet this slut is you?
believe it or not, i actually understand the dichotomy of this thought.
i also understand, thanks to a "higher power", that there' more to your scribblings than meets the eye.
i think that if jim morrison were still alive, he'd be trying to get you to agree to collaborate, for this was "strange"... and he loved it when "you're strange...."
i'm coming to like what you write, green! but why do you itch? lol

i'll always need a friend, one i can defend.

"and watched my groans turn to cries"
A statement for all that could have been.
Fascinating thoughts, Green_Itchy_Stuff!

Eve, yeah there is slightly more.  Thats what I like about poetry.  No matter what is intended by the poet, or what the thoughts, statement, ideas,... whatever are they can always be manipulated to the way you'd prefer to view them.  I'm not sure if this is totally good, but it can't be totally bad.  And the thing about Jim Morrison.  I guess when you're a stranger with a somewhat momentarily bizare point of view it truly shows people are strange.  And yes that thing about the "sight" is a little different as well.  As far as the itch, maybe there's just too many mosquitos.  lol.

News- are you quoting Nin lyrics with the "all that could have been" bit?

A trickle of music from a well,
Let it spill and rip through Hell.
